This is the post excerpt.
This beautifully remodeled original adobe home is located a 10 minute drive from the town of Vilcabamba and has 2 bedrooms, one bath, a lovely living room, a open kitchen, and a large porch where you can sit and watch the many birds and butterflies that live their lives freely outside of town. Many of the window beams are the house’s original beams, and the several of the kitchen cabinets were made from the original window shutters.
The home is situated on one of two lots, with the entire property being 650m/ 6996.54sq feet. There is a very large and beautiful flower and herb garden on the second lot. Birds most often seen in the garden are hummingbirds, margaritas, langaches, doves and an array of finches. Fruit trees are located in many areas of the property. These trees include bananas, sweet lime, lime, papaya, mango, guanabana, guayaba, sweet orange, and sour orange. There are also many matico trees that are a medicinal tree used for centuries for the natural healing for skin abrasions. Additionally, there is a front garden with many trees and flowers, including perennial zinnias, daisies, sweetheart roses, dracaena, and birds of paradise, as well as thimbleberry bushes, banana trees and plumbago. The front garden borders the looped road in front of the home. The home is in an ideal location as it bordered by a bluff to the rear, another side by an alley, fronted by a vacant lot and has only one neighbor on the remaining side. The entire area is surrounded by a living fence that allows for complete privacy. Finally, the driveway is surrounded on two sides by rocked flower beds that include lilies, wandering jasmine, ferns, honeysuckle, caladiums and moss rose.
Additionally, there is also a large bodega on the property with two separate storage rooms that have been wired and plumbed for a kitchen and a bathroom. The bodega can be used for storage, a covered clothesline area or could be enclosed as a guest casita. There is also a separate laundry room connected to the house.
All floors, with the exception of the bathroom, are made from a neutral-colored stained concrete as are the kitchen counters making cleaning a breeze. The bathroom floors are made from locally manufactured “barro” as the focus on the home was to remodel it within a structure of Ecuadorian handmade products.
The master bedroom has a very large, custom-made armoire with two closets, three drawers, a mirror made from a Balinese window, and an upper storage cabinet. The bedroom has views of both the rear garden and the main garden.
The guest room has two entrances, one that opens onto the porch and another French door that opens into the garden.
There is a large cistern that supplies water to the on-demand hot water heater for the bathroom, kitchen and laundry area. An added extra for this home is that the water for the home comes directly from the high Andes, and it is pure and contains no additives. The air is free from pollution, and the grounds are organic.
Not included in the sale are the appliances, furniture, and garden area accessories (including statuary and some seating.) The trellis area seating is included.
